A bathroom is the smallest room in the house and the one with the highest consequence of getting it wrong. Every square foot of it is a wet area sitting directly above framing, and a shower that was waterproofed badly does not announce itself — it quietly rots the subfloor for three years and then shows up as a soft spot in the hallway. Restowrx spends a great deal of time tearing out exactly that failure on restoration calls, which is precisely why we build bathrooms the way we do.
Waterproofing Is the Whole Job
Tile is not waterproof. Grout is not waterproof. The waterproofing is the membrane system underneath, and it is the part you will never see and cannot inspect after the fact. We build showers with a bonded or sheet membrane over properly sloped substrate, we flood-test pans before tile goes down, and we detail the corners and the curb — which is where failures actually start — rather than relying on a bead of sealant.
Ventilation Is Code, Not an Upgrade
In a climate this humid, an undersized exhaust fan or one that vents into the attic instead of through the roof is a mold claim waiting to happen. We size the fan to the room and terminate it outside the building envelope. It is a small line item that prevents an expensive problem.
What We Build
- Full bathroom gut renovations
- Tub-to-walk-in-shower conversions
- Curbless and roll-in showers for accessibility
- Custom tile, including large-format and mosaic work
- Double vanities and custom cabinetry
- Layout changes, including relocating fixtures
- New bathrooms as part of an addition or garage conversion
- Aging-in-place features — blocking for grab bars, comfort-height fixtures, and slip-resistant flooring
Planning Around One Bathroom
If it is your only full bath, the schedule matters more than the finish. We sequence these jobs to minimize the days the room is out of service, order every fixture and tile before demolition so nothing stalls waiting on a backorder, and tell you honestly how long you will be without it. A contractor who will not give you that number has not planned the job.
Serving All of Tampa Bay
What we find behind the wall depends heavily on where the house is. A 1925 bungalow bath in Hyde Park hides cast iron and plaster; a 1995 Brandon master bath hides a fiberglass garden tub and not much else; a 1958 St. Petersburg bath is built into concrete block. Choose your area from the location menu for specifics.
